The El Movimiento Advisory Committee of History Colorado invites you to come and celebrate the rich history of Chicana activism in our state.
The Year of La Chicana Opening Reception supported by AARP will celebrate and honor La Chicana (past, present and future) with an opening reception at the History Colorado Center. This gathering aims to bring together Chicana activists and their communities from across the state of Colorado and engage a wide range of communities interested in the story of Colorado Chicanas.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2019 | 5:30PM — 8:00PM
The opening event will tell the story of Chicana activism in our state through dynamic historian speakers who embody the ethos of La Chicana. A partnership with Su Teatro enlivens the evening with a moving depiction of one Chicana’s struggle for justice. The unveiling of Chicana artist in residence Arlette Lucero’s work of three key Chicana activists along with a community based collage of myriad Chicanas will bring together an opportunity for story sharing and connection.
Enjoy a catered reception, music, speakers and more! RSVP required by September 7.
