Andy Vargas, the lead singer for the Carlos Santana band was at Live@Jacks yesterday for a meet and greet in anticipation of tonight’s Santana concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Vargas, who has formed his own band, “Souleros” performed a couple of songs for the crowd before taking pictures and signing autographs with just about everyone in the audience.
Vargas, describes his style of music as the “New Sound of brown eyed soul” a blend of traditional Latin Ballads (boleros) funk, soul and R&B. He has performed with artists such as Enrique Iglesias , Patti Labelle and many others.
Beyond his music Vargas told the audience of his non-profit organization, the Andy Vargas foundation, which provides at risk youth with the opportunity to engage with national and local mentors from all aspects of the music industry in hopes of inspiring them to succeed not just in music but in life as well.
The meet and greet was made possible by Henry Archuleta of KUHS radio and hosted by long time radio personality Paul Chavez.
